Telephone Systems/Intercom

A Cain Integrated Wiring System means convenience and flexibility. Imagine the convenience of having all the rooms wired for TV... and the flexibility of plugging in anywhere. The convenience of monitoring your sleeping baby by TV as you work in the kitchen... the flexibility of automatically controlling your lights, heating, and air conditioning for maximum savings and efficiency. Or consider a home office with the convenience of telephone, facsimile, high-speed Internet access, and even an in-home network to share computer resources. And imagine the peace of mind that comes from a Cain Security System to help protect you and your family.

A Cain Integrated System utilizes a structured wiring system - the same type of system that major corporations use for their data networks and telephone. All your incoming services, such as cable TV, telephone, and Internet access, come to the Integrated System Center (ISC). From the ISC, cables run directly to outlets located throughout the house. Not only does this increase reliability, it makes changes to the system simple and easy.

Wiring ImageA Cain Integrated Wiring System offers an organized approach to low voltage communications wiring distribution in the residential housing market. Three ISC enclosure sizes cover the complete range of home sizes and desired functionality. An array of snap-in modules support telephone, data, local area network (LAN), audio and video services of all types. In addition, home automation system controllers are an option to control security, lighting, energy and other conveniences. The modular design permits customizing to homes of all sizes and application needs, such as for home office (fax, modem, Internet), entertainment (music, sound and video), control of heating and cooling, sophisticated security with cameras (CCTV), programmed lighting and more. User-friendly control is by home PC, keypad, key fob or touchtone telephone, local or remote. With a Cain Integrated Wiring System, you are wired for the future.

Outlets

Outlets are the user's connection points in a Cain Integrated Wiring System. High quality modular, coaxial F and binding post connections allow connections for telephones and telephone devices (answering machines, Faxes), televisions and audio/video components (including digital satellite receivers), speakers, and computers and computer peripherals.

Modular jacks are eight conductor RJ-45 jacks, wired per the EIA/TIA 568A configuration. They are designed for four pair Cat 5 unshielded twisted pair cable. Wires are easily and reliably terminated using a wire punchdown tool. Coaxial outlets use the industry-standard coaxial F connector. The binding post connectors are provided in color coded (red and black) pairs to help the user maintain proper speaker polarity. They can accommodate a cable terminated in a banana plug or spade lug, and also provide a secure, low-resistance connection for an unterminated, bare wire cable.

Outlet ImageThere are three "families" of outlets. The Standard series provides an economical choice, and offers up to six jacks in one single gang sized plate. The Decorator series provides a stylish, contemporary appearance. And the HideOut outlet has smooth cover hides and protects the jacks and plugs, allowing you to place furniture very close to the wall. Snap-in plastic icons on the Decorator and HideOut outlets help identify each jack's use.

Outlets are available with a single jack, and with useful combinations of jacks. For example, the two jack outlets with telephone and coaxial jacks are ideal for connecting the digital satellite receiver, which must have phone access for ordering pay-per-view and other services. A natural candidate in a home office would be the outlet having two modular phone jacks, a keyed modular jack for a local area network (LAN) connection, and even a coaxial jack for a digital satellite- or cable-provided high speed Internet connection.

If the outlet combinations listed nearby are insufficient for any of your applications, please remember that Decorator outlets can be combined behind a multi-opening Decorator plate to provide six, eight or even more jacks, in nearly any combination.

Outlets consist of a "kit" of all components - plate or strap, jacks, icons, and mounting screws. The Decorator series outlets require a Decora or decorator faceplate to complete the installation.

Wiring Cables
A Cain Integrated Wiring System uses the highest quality cables available for telephone, video and high speed data. The Cat 5 unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cable provides 4 separate pairs used for voice, modem, fax or a home computer network. Cat 5 cable handles data rates up to 100 Mb/s. The Cat 5 cables are installed "home run" from each wall plate location to a ISC for centralized connection to incoming telephone services or home networking. The cable has a convenient reference mark every foot for easy length determination. The cost premium for Cat 5 high performance cable is minimal versus standard grade voice cable.

A Cain Integrated Wiring System also meets the technical needs of CEBus for whole house video, voice, data and system control. It is the wiring foundation required for upgrade to any of these systems and to accommodate present and future digital, voice and video services from the telephone, cable and satellite service providers.

The Series 6 (RG-6) coax cable is quad shielded for maximum shielding effectiveness. It meets the most stringent FCC and cable company performance requirements to 1 Ghz bandwidth. The coax cable is also installed "home run" from each wall plate to the ISC.
